Dr Sahar Ghumkhor is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Her research explores the intersections of racism, political violence and psychoanalysis. These themes are explored in her book The Political Psychology of the Veil: the Impossible Body (2020). Her more recent work explores the link between conspiracy theories and racism. She is also researching the growing link between CVE and the criminalisation of cultural practices like 'female genital mutilation' as ‘illiberal’ and ‘extreme’. She is currently co-editing two Special Issues: one for Re-Orient Journal on the Muslim Manosphere and another for Middle East Critique which is a call for a Critical Afghan Studies field.
